FAQ
What skating level do I need? Intermediate to advanced. You should be able to skate forwards and backwards, glide, make quick turns, and stop going forwards and backwards. That's about Adult Level 3 in the Learn to Skate USA program.
Can teens come? The workshop is mainly for adults, however, teens with advanced to elite skating skills may be approved on a case by case, with a parent or guardian attending with them. Email LearnToSkateOutside@gmail.com for approval before you buy a ticket.
What happens on the ice? The last hour of the workshop is hands-on rescue instruction: drills and practice scenarios on the rink. You will get to practice with a variety of ice picks, and throw rope bags. Ultimately after this section of the workshop you’ll know what gear you like and how to use it!
What should I bring? Skates, gloves, warm layers, any of your own safety gear (if you have picks, life preserver, throw rope, whistle).
Is there an online version? An online course is coming later this fall. Join the newsletter to hear first!
